One vehicle crash leaves two injured

SHENANDOAH, Iowa. (KMTV) — Two people were injured, one with life threatening injuries after a one vehicle crash last night on Highway 59 in Iowa.

Investigators at the scene determined a 2009 Saturn Aura was heading southbound before losing control and entered a ditch. Upon entering the ditch, the vehicle continued and struck a tree head on.

The driver, Michelle Rene Graham, became trapped and was rescued from the vehicle after almost two hours using the Jaws of Life. She was airlifted from the scene to Nebraska Medicine with life threatening injuries.

The passenger, Teresa Amthor, was also airlifted with unknown injuries. Seatbelts were in use and airbags were deployed. Alcohol or speed are not believed to be factors in the crash.

The investigation is still ongoing.
