OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — An Omaha Police officer who died in the line of duty will be honored Thursday.
A horse named "Orozco" after fallen officer Kerrie Orozco will officially become an OPD mounted patrol horse. The animal was donated by Orozco's husband, who no longer has time to ride.
This is not the only horse named after the fallen Omaha officer. In July of 2017, the Nashville Police Department named a member of its mounted patrol "Orozco" as well. The department also has a special plaque in the horse's stall that symbolizes the officer's sacrifice and legacy.
