OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Omaha Police Department says it's ready for a St. Patrick's Day DUI enforcement operation.

OPD says it was granted $8,000 by the Nebraska Office of Highway Safety to enhance "efforts in the detection and arrest of impaired drivers."

The operation will from Friday through Tuesday. It will include additional officers throughout the city who will be on the lookout for impaired drivers.

People are urged to celebrate safely by utilizing built-in vehicle safety devices, assigning a designated driver if drinking or using ride sharing or taxi services if you've had something to drink.
