OPD: Suspects in May homicide transported to Omaha to face charges

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Authorities say two suspects in the May homicide of 16-year-old Manuel Gijon-Villa have been transported to Omaha to face criminal charges.

On May 11, 2020, Omaha Police Department detectives learned of an abandoned vehicle outside of Rawlins, WY. Detectives were advised that the deceased body of Gijon-Villa was found in the back of the vehicle.

Omaha Police say through investigation, it was determined that Gijon-Villa was shot near 33rd and L St where he succumbed to his injuries. The vehicle, with Gijon-Villa's body inside, was driven to Wyoming where it ran out of gas and was then abandoned on the interstate.

The suspects were arrested in Wyoming for related charges and were recently transported to Omaha.

Jose Ramos, 19, was booked into Douglas County Corrections for Accessory to a Felony, Possession of Gun by a Prohibited Person, and Tampering with Evidence.

A 17-year-old male was booked into the Douglas County Youth Center for Manslaughter, 1st Degree Felony Assault, Use of a Weapon to Commit a Felony, and Tampering with Evidence.
