According to a post on its website, OPPD is sending 47 people to Tampa to help restore power after Hurricane Irma.

The effort is being coornidated by the Midwest Mutual Assistance Group and is the furthest mutual aid crews have ever been sent by the organization.

“The damage caused by this hurricane is catastrophic,” said Mo Doghman, Vice President-Energy Delivery and Chief Compliance Officer for OPPD. “The impacted utilities need all the help they can get right now. We are glad to lend our people and their talents to assist with this massive recovery effort.”

OPPD has been matched with Tampa Electric, which has 330,000 customers without power.
