PAPILLION, Neb. (KMTV) -- — A year-long celebration for a huge milestone in Papio.
“Papillion 150” will mark the 150th birthday for the city. It was founded in 1870 along the Union Pacific railroad line at the time.
They'll create dozens of butterfly benches around town, paint "The Butterfly Effect Murals", make their traditional events even bigger, and they're asking non-profits to tell them about their special events to brand them "Papillion 150."
Mayor David Black says they want to keep their growth going, but not lose the small-town feel.
"Let's honor people who have been part of this, and new people who are part of Papillion. Let’s get them engaged and move forward to the future, so it's really a blend of the old and the new," Black explained.
