For the thousands of people how turned out to the first annual Pinnacle Bank Championship, finding a way to cool down was a priority.
A total of 5000 people showed up for the first day of the tournament, according to tournament director Jessica Brabec. Around 3000 of those showed up before 2 p.m.
Spectators were allowed to bring their own water into the tournament and refill bottles at water stations.
While the heat was definitely noticeable, it didn't seem to damper the spirits of spectator Jean Bond.
"We are just making sure that we have a good view line of the hole and the shade," Bond said. "Those are the two most important parts. And we both have our water and like we said we both like to support the golf tournament and it's a tradition that we always do that."
Officials expect more people to come out these next few days.
At last check, there were no heat related emergencies Thursday. Officials will also beef up medical staff for Friday, when the temps are expected to be even higher
