An early morning crash sends an Omaha Police officer and a 16-year-old to the hospital.

It happened just after 1:00 on Tuesday morning in the intersection of 24th and Lake Streets.

The officer was headed to a radio call to assist another officer when it happened.

Police say the teenage driver was not wearing a seat belt and suffered an ankle injury.

The officer had cuts and bruises as well as neck and chest pain.

The crash left extensive damage to both vehicles.
