Possible explosion being investigated in Council Bluffs

COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa. (KMTV) — Council Bluffs Fire and Police Departments are investigating a possible explosion that occurred Friday.

Authorities were dispatched to S. 8th and 5th Ave after reports of a traumatic injury. During the response, units were advised there was a possible explosion that led to a person with a hand injury.

Upon arrival, crews found 53-year-old Timothy Bank with injuries to his hands and torso. Bank was rapidly treated and transported to the Nebraska Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is being led by the Council Bluffs Fire Marshal's office along with the Council Bluffs PD and Iowa State Fire Marshal's Office.

The cause of the explosion is still under investigation.

There is no risk to the public, the Council Bluffs Fire Department said. The incident appears to be isolated.
