A group is holding a public discussion ahead of a committee meeting of the Douglas County Board concerning its juvenile justice center proposal.
It’s from 7 to 8 p.m. Monday at the University of Nebraska Omaha’s Barbara Weitz Community Engagement Center.
Organizers are hoping people present questions and explore alternative options which they will later present to the Douglas County Board.
The meeting follows concerns over eminent domain use for a building located at the proposed site, financing and overall operations of the juvenile justice center.
The board’s Administrative Services Committee will hold its meeting Thursday at 1 p.m. It’s expected it will highlight strategic planning and the juvenile court’s space needs.
In the aftermath of a heated debate between the board and building owner Bob Perrin, a self-guided building tour is scheduled for people wanting to see it. It’s Sunday, Aug. 12 from 1 to 4 p.m.
