Puppy abandoned at Lake Zorinsky now ready for "furever" home

A puppy abandoned at Lake Zorinsky in October is now ready for adoption.

Matilda is a three-month-old lab mix who was left out in the elements, dumped at Lake Zorinsky park by her owner. A volunteer with Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue saw a middle-aged man walk the dog into the woods, walk back out without the dog, and then drive away in a maroon SUV. The puppy then came out of the woods dragging a leash.

The man's identity is unknown, but a volunteer with the animal rescue happened upon the little pup and rescued her.

Heather Noyes with Muddy Paws Second Chance rescue says Matilda likely would have frozen to death overnight after it was left to fend for herself.

The puppy placed with a foster home and the owner never came forward. Matilda is now available for adoption.

Interested families must fill out an application, provide references and complete a home visit. The goal is to find Matilda her forever home.

Muddy Paws Second Chance Rescue is participating in Giving Tuesday to provide loving homes for other dogs like Matilda. You can donate to the cause by clicking here.
