"Well Mama" fitness studio opened in Rockbrook Village in November 2016. The facility offers barre, yoga and strength classes with a focus on women in any stage of their motherhood journey.
Owner Mallory Pole has four kids and says she hopes to bridge a disconnect some moms feel, "literally everything I've implemented in the studio are things I've wanted in my personal life." Childcare sessions are available at the same times as classes and there are baby-wearing classes or classes in which your children are invited.
Pole has also created workshops, for example, she's brought in sleep experts and herbalists. They've also hosted events for moms to have a weekend night in with friends or to drop off kids for a fun night while parents have date night.
Pole say, "we just wanted to create a space where moms could feel safe, loved, and nurtured, so they could take care of themselves so they could better take care of their families."
In this way, they're creating a community. We met Samantha D'Angelo while she was attending a class with her 6-month-old son. She loves how the teachers give options if you'd like to modify the workout. "Anywhere else if you can't keep up with the workout you feel like you're a failure, here no matter what you do, you've succeeded."
Pole described some of the powerful feedback women have said to her, "this has helped me so much, I was experiencing some kind of postpartum depression and this has really given me an outlet to be able to take care of myself."
