OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A long-time K9 of the Sarpy County Sheriff's Office will be retiring from active duty after eight years.

Jazz will be honored in a ceremony Tuesday afternoon by the Sarpy County Board. Jazz, a female Dutch Shepherd joined the K9 unit in 2011. Jazz and her partner, Amanda Illuzzi, are certified in narcotics detection and patrol.

Some highlights of Jazz's career include
- Three physical apprehensions.
- Responsible for several subjects surrendering upon announcement of the dog's presence.
- Aided in the search for a number of missing children.
- Uncovered hundreds of pounds of narcotics, including meth, heroin, marijuana, and cocaine during vehicle searches.
- Assisted other local, state, and federal agencies.

The ceremony will take place at the beginning of the regular Sarpy County Board of Commissioners metting at the Sarpy County Courthouse at 3:00 p.m.
