For the second consecutive day.. blowing dirt stirred up by high winds caused a multi-vehicle pileup on Interstate 80.

The Seward County Sheriff's Office says six semi tractor-trailers and several passenger cars were involved in the pileup just after 1 p.m. near Goehner.  Several people were taken to the hospital with injuries that are not considered life-threatening.

I-80 was closed to traffic in both directions for nearly four hours while emergency responders assisted injured motorists and crews cleaned up the wreckage.

On Sunday, one person died in a multi-vehicle pileup on I-80 near Aurora caused by blowing dust. The victim has been identified as 81 year old Franklin Owens of Colorado Springs, Colorado.
