Thanksgiving is just days away and with the turkey, stuffing and all the fixings, comes another tradition that ushers in the start of the holidays - Black Friday shopping.

Wallet hub estimates that 35 percent of shoppers expect to spend more than $500 dollars on their holiday shopping.

Creighton University Economics Professor Ernie Goss says nationwide, retailers can expect to see a 6 to 7 percent increase in consumer spending.

Goss says wage growth is stronger this year, and here in Omaha, Nebraska's low unemployment rate means more shoppers will be opening their wallets this Black Friday.

According to the National Retail Federation, 164 million Americans are expected to shop over the five day Thanksgiving weekend.

Online shopping is also growing with an estimated 15 percent increase in sales this year - Part of this growth is from retailers incentivizing shoppers with free shipping.
