GRETNA, Neb. (KMTV) — With Christmas less than two days away, the Nebraska Crossing Outlets saw a steady stream of customers shopping Monday afternoon.

"There are people that shop months in advance for the holiday and there are people that shop literally in the last 24 hours," said Johanna Boston, Nebraska Crossing's chief strategy officer. "You're seeing a lot of people who have extra people on their list that they're shopping for but you also see people with 14 bags in their hands so you know they're power shopping the day before."

According to the National Retail Federation, 56-percent of shoppers head online during the holiday season and nine-percent nationwide visit an outlet mall. To help attract customers, Nebraska Crossing held special deals for its patrons ahead of Christmas.

"Despite what you hear with retail, our retail is trending up," Boston said.

Store managers told 3 News Now the day is one of the busiest of the holiday season. Boston said people coming back from out of town to visit family has been a big boost to business.

"They don't like to travel with all of their Christmas gifts so they come here and they know they can do all of their shopping right before the holiday," Boston said.

Nebraska Crossing Outlets will be open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Christmas Eve but will be closed on Christmas.
