LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) -- — It won’t be long until one of the most anticipated husker seasons kicks off.
The Nebraska Cornhuskers take on South Alabama Saturday at 11am at Memorial Stadium.
No major changes have been made inside the facility, there aren’t any big construction projects around the stadium, and the clear bag policy is still in place.
They said a few tweaks have been made since last year's home-opener was canceled after one play.
"How we respond to an event like that when it happens is always a learning opportunity but we're not operating any different this year than we were last year because of that event,” said Matt Davidson, UNL Associate Athletic Director for Event Management.
A change to a pre-game tradition is on the way. The UNL Athletic Department says fireworks will be set off from the stadium to signal that the Unity Walk will start in 8 minutes. The walk will also start from the Bell Tower east of Memorial Stadium.
The UNL Athletic Department says people should use their normal routes to get to the game but check huskers.com/gameday to find the best ways to get home.
