South Omaha crash victim dies

A man seriously hurt in a crash in South Omaha Monday evening has died.
47 year old Jose De La Cruz-Avalos died from his injuries Tuesday morning at Nebraska Medicine.  He suffered serious injuries to his chest when his car was struck by an SUV at 31st and Q around 4:30 Monday afternoon. Police say De La Cruz-Avalos was wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the SUV, 22 year old Leonel Ramirez-Cortes was not injured. Police ticketed him for driving during suspension.
