About an hour and a half southeast of Omaha, you can find the next generation of journalists.  The televised morning announcements hit the airwaves at Tarkio Elementary School in November.

"I pulled these guys into a meeting and I said we are going to try this.  I said I don't know what we are going to do, but we are going to try it," said Instructor Cindy Rolf.

The announcements include weather, student activities, birthdays and a lunch menu.

Being sixth graders, they were curious to see how a real TV station operates, so we gave them a crash course in TV 101.

The fun really started when they stepped into the studio.  Ian Stepp says he liked the virtual set.  He acted as the station's weatherman for a while.

"I liked how all the kids would come up to me when I did weather and be like hey, you got the weather wrong," said sixth grader Ian Stepp.

Mrs. Rolf says she is proud of this group.

"Their enthusiasm is amazing.  They really put a lot of effort and time into it," said Rolf.
