OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — Yesterday, a trooper with Nebraska State Patrol tried to stop a driver in a vehicle reported stolen but ended the pursuit due to weather conditions. A while later, the stolen vehicle was found in a ditch off Dodge along with prints leading them to the suspect.

Nebraska State Patrol says the pursuit began on Highway 275 at about 9:45 a.m. when a trooper saw a car that was reported stolen out of the Fremont area. Once the eastbound driver turned onto Dodge, the trooper abandoned the pursuit due to weather concerns.

Shortly after, the vehicle was found in a ditch at 168th and Dodge Streets. Footprints near the vehicle led troopers to the Best Buy located in the Village Pointe shopping district.

When troopers entered the store, they were directed to a bathroom where the suspect was found hiding in the bathroom they say.

23-year-old Tony Collins, of Omaha, was arrested for theft by unlawful taking, flight to avoid arrest, willful reckless driving and driving under suspension. He was lodged in Douglas County Corrections.
