A teenage girl who threw her newborn baby out of her apartment window has been ordered to a group home.

16 year old Antonia Lopez admitted to throwing the baby out a 2nd story window after her case was moved to juvenile court.  Lopez Snapchatted a photo to the baby's father before tossing the newborn outside on September 30th at her apartment on 25th & Izard St.

The state applied for Lopez to go to Boystown, but they denied the application for safety reasons. Lopez will stay at the Douglas County Youth Center until they can find a group home to place her in.

Prosecutors feel that Lopez doesn't understand the seriousness of her actions.

“It just didn’t seem appropriate I think for the circumstances here and the nature of what occurred and what we thought would be best for her and that’s what we’re trying to figure out what’s best for her and what will make her stay on the right track from now on,” Douglas Co. Attorney Don Kleine explained.

Lopez is also on indefinite probation, must undergo individual and family therapy, perform community service, and delete her Facebook account.
