Omaha's firework season around the Fourth of July may be getting shorter.

Mayor Jean Stothert agrees with the City Council that the schedule should only be three days, as opposed to 10.

The Mayor has often said the loud booms and blasts in Omaha neighborhoods upset veterans and pets.

If the plan passes, there will be a seven-day window to sell fireworks but fewer permits will be issued by the city.

The council is expected to vote on the changes on Sept. 25.
