Three people were killed, including two children, and multiple others injured in a multi-vehicle crash along I-80 near mile marker 55.
The incident happened around 9 a.m. Saturday morning when a westbound semi-truck crossed the median and hit another vehicle that was traveling eastbound. Both vehicles blocked the road and the the semi's trailer blocked traffic in the roadway.
A third vehicle rear-ended the semi.
The Iowa State Patrol has released the identities of those killed as 11-year-old Gavin Steckler and 14-year-old Jameson Steckler. Other people in the vehicle who were hurt include 43-year-old Toby Steckler, 43-year-old Pam Steckler and 10-year-old Mason Steckler.
A passenger in the other vehicle, 41-year-old Shane Sanborn, was killed. The driver, 50-year-old Daniel Doggett, passengers Kim Doggett , 14-year-old Haden Doggett and 14-year-old Tyler Sanborn were hurt.
Fourteen-year-old Haden Rast was also injured. The semi driver was not hurt.
The Iowa State Patrol is investigating the crash.
