Last night, Mayor Jean Stothert reported that her office was in contact with Waste Management and that all trash from last week and Monday had been picked up. She also reported that 15% of Tuesday's collections had been made.T oday, she said the report was inaccurate but that it should be caught up this week.
From the Mayor's Office:
"The collection status information we received from Waste Management last night and shared with you was inaccurate. We apologize for that error, and understand some collections are now up to 5 days behind schedule. We agree with you, this is unacceptable and we are requiring frequent, accurate updates from Waste Management.
As of this afternoon, Waste Management tells us they expect to complete 70% of the normal Wednesday collections.
Waste Management’s management team, with assistance from city inspectors, is visually checking all locations reported to the Mayor’s Hotline that have not yet been collected to prioritize these collections. Waste Management has designated trucks to collect these locations.
Recycling collections will resume tomorrow, June 6. There are no plans to further delay recycling pickups.
If your collection is missed, please leave your cans and yard waste bags at the curb so it’s ready for pickup.
Waste Management says it is confident all collections citywide will be complete by Saturday.
Please continue to report your address if your trash is not picked up, hotline@cityofomaha.org, omahahotline.com [omahahotline.com] or 402-444-5555, from 8:00am – 4:30pm."
