OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) - A Nebraska State Trooper was briefly hospitalized on Wednesday after his patrol car was struck along Interstate 80.

The trooper's car was struck from the rear by a Lexus SUV about an hour after responding to a report of road damage on I-80 near Giles Road.

Troopers had blocked off the far right lane from traffic for construction workers to repair the road.

The trooper was inside the vehicle at the time of the crash and the trooper’s emergency lights were active while he was blocking traffic.

The trooper and the driver of the Lexus were brought to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. The trooper has since been released.

The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the crash.
