Two arrested after high-speed chase in Pottawattamie County

Two men were arrested in Pottawattamie County early Thursday morning following a carjacking and high-speed chase. 

Brandon King, 25, has been charged with multiple traffic offenses, theft of a motor vehicle, interference with official acts, possession of a stolen gun and possession of a dangerous weapon. 

John Detimore, 18, has been charged with two counts of theft of a motor vehicle, felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a dangerous weapon, interference with official acts and attempted murder. 

According to a release, the pair eluded officers on I-80 by driving at a high-rate of speed after a deputy attempted to stop them. 

The vehicle ended up in a ditch and King and Detimore fled on foot. King, the driver of the vehicle, was caught and Detimore entered a pickup truck near the scene. Detimore drove the pickup into a cornfield and got stuck, he was caught after deputies from Harrison, Shelby and Cass (Iowa) counties setup a perimeter. 

Both men are from Kansas and suffered minor injuries, they were transported to Pottawattamie County Corrections immediately after being released from the hospital. 

There is an on-going investigation into shots being fired at the pursuing deputy.
