Authorities arrested two men Friday they say are connected to an August 2015 homicide.
According to an Omaha Police Department press release, Homicide Unit officers arrested Marcus Short and Preston Pope, both 27, were both charged Friday with the first-degree murder of 23-year-old Deprecia Neelon, and a use of a weapon to commit a felony.
At about 8:30 p.m. Aug. 6, 2015, OPD was called to 22nd and Pinkney streets on a report of a shooting and received an addition report of a house on fire at the same location. When officers arrived on the scene, the release states, they found Neelon suffering from apparent gunshot wound. She was later pronounced dead at the scene, the OPD release states.
Omaha Police are still investigating whether the fire was related to the shooting.
Both Short and Pope were already in Douglas County Corrections for the murder of Garion Johnson which occured on Aug. 8, 2015, according to the OPD release.
