Two Lincoln Police officers were hospitalized early Tuesday morning after being injured while interviewing a suspect on copper pipe thefts.

Police say around 12:30 a.m. two officers were interviewing the suspect, 43-year-old Mitchell Wachter, when he attempted to leave the questioning room, when an officer tried to stop him he was punched in the face by Wachter. Another officer used a stun gun on Wachter.

Both officers were treated and released from the hospital, one with a head injury and one with a leg injury, and Wachter was hospitalized himself. Upon his release, Wachter was booked in the Lancaster County Jail for burglary, terroristic threats and assaulting an officer.
