OMAHA, NE — Two area pools were closed over the weekend after lifeguards tested positive for COVID-19.

The JCC Omaha announced on its websitethat their outdoor pool was closed after a lifeguard tested positive. The website said that based on guidance from the Douglas County Health Department anyone who was within 6 feet of a lifeguard for more than 15 minutes between July 1st and July 4th should follow the CDC guidelines for close contact.

The JCC said the lifeguard was not in contact with any of the other facilities at the complex nor was involved in any of the JCC's summer camps.

There was no indication when the outdoor pool would reopen.

Also, our news partner the Omaha World Herald reported that the pool at the Omaha Country Club was also closed due to a lifeguard testing positive for COVID-19.

The newspaper quoted the club's general manager as saying he did not know when their pool would reopen.
