Bob and Shani Corrigan, among those killed in Sunday's church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas, had belonged to the Chandler Acres Baptist Church in Bellevue for about three years before they moved Texas.
“When I heard what happened, I called both their cell numbers and neither answered,” Pastor Dan Wills said.
Wills said the Corrigan’s were devoted members of the church, “When you lose a family member it hurts, and we will miss them.”
He said Bob was the music worship leader and Shani was involved with the women’s ministry. They loved helping around the church and they loved their family.
“They were grandparents, they were parents, and man I’ll tell you this, they were great parents, really loved their grandchildren,” Wills said.
Both worked at Offutt Air Force Base, Wills said Bob was the superintendent at the hospital where Shani also worked.
Wills said the Sutherland Springs community needs prayer and the support of everyone.
“One thing I learned, don't pass the day up without telling your family you love them,” he said.
The church isn’t sure what type of fundraiser they will have yet, but they hope to have one for all of the shooting victims.
A GoFundMe page has been set up to assist the family with the costs of their memorials.
