Two people were transported to the hospital in non-critical condition after an apartment complex caught on fire in northwest Omaha near 80th and Blondo Streets.
Omaha Fire Batallion Chief Tim Gilmin said the fire at 2017 Benson Garden Blvd. apartments started Wednesday evening on the third floor of the building.
One resident and one firefighter were transported by ambulance to local hospitals in non-critical conditions. One was transported to UNMC and the other to Bergan Mercy.
The building has 12 units, 11 of them which were occupied and evacuated.
Gilmin said several animals had been safely removed from the building.
The Red Cross and the Nebraska Humane Society were at the building to assist residents.
Gilmin said the cause of fire is still under investigation.
