OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The Munroe-Meyer Institute for Genetics and Rehabilitation at the University of Nebraska Medical Center will hold a groundbreaking ceremony today to mark the beginning of renovations to the Institute's new home.

$86 million in donations to the University of Nebraska Foundation helped the university acquire and redevelop the building. The renovations will more than double the Institute's current size to 220,078 square feet in response to the growth in population that needs services.

The renovations are scheduled to be completed by the Fall of 2020, and the building will open later that year.
