UNO alerts students of reported sexual assault on campus

UNO notified students Wednesday afternoon about a sexual assault that reportedly occurred on campus Tuesday night.

An alert was sent out by the University of Nebraska-Omaha's Department of Public Safety stating that the reported assault happened at about 10:30 p.m. at Maverick Village.

In the alert, the suspect is described as a white 18-year-old man with dark hair and glasses, last seen wearing a black hooded sweatshirt, blue jeans and gray shoes. 

Later this evening, the department sent out another alert, this time about an three incidents involving a man exposing himself in the Pacific Street Parking Garage between 10:25 and 11:30 a.m. Wednesday.

According to the UNODPS alert, victims all reported that while walking in the garage, a man in a grey 2017 Hyundai Elantra with "in-transit" tags parked or pulled up close to them, summoned the victim to his vehicle on the pretense of asking a question about the garage, then exposed his genitals to them.

That suspect was described in the second alert as a tall, white 20-25-year-old man with dark hair who was last seen wearing a blue-and-white striped shirt, blue jeans and gray shoes.

Anyone with information pertaining to either of these crimes is asked to call UNODPS at 402-554-2648 or Omaha Police at 402-444-5636.

The department advises students who find themselves in a situation they are unsure of or feeling scared to call UNODPS immediately at 402-554-2648 or dial 9-1-1.
