Glenwood Police are still investigating the shooting death of a 18 year old woman Saturday night.
Glenwood Police responded to a 911 call at 6:34 p.m at the Linwood Estates and found 18-year-old Kathryn Weber with a gunshot wound and was unresponsive. Police say Weber worked at the assisted living home.
Mark Alan Troutman, 27, from Sylvania, Ohio was located by police and the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation just before 8pm at the Western Inn. Troutman was charged with first degree murder, a Class A felony and is being held on a $5 million bond at the Mills County jail. Investigators are asking anyone with further information to step forward.
The Glenwood school district issued the following statement: "The Glenwood Community School District staff members and students send their deepest condolences to the family of Katie Weber. Katie was a 2016 graduate of Glenwood Community High School.
She is fondly remembered today as a quiet, soft-spoken young woman who was goal-driven and determined to become a nurse. Those she cared for at the nursing home brought out her caring and affectionate smile.
Counselors are on hand today at the High School and Middle School for students and staff who may need extra support during this difficult time. We do not have memorial information at this time. We will share with the community as it becomes available."
