Omaha Police confirm an OPD officer was involved in an afternoon shooting near Midtown.
Police say they were chasing the driver of a stolen pickup who was suspected of robbing a Bucky's convenience store earlier in the day. The suspect stopped in the area of 25th & Rees in Midtown around 4:20 p.m. and shots were fired. The suspect was hit and was taken to Nebraska Medicine in critical condition.
There remains a heavy police presence in the area as officers investigate.
