OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — The first vaping-related death was reported in Nebraska yesterday. Now, vaping and smoking will have to be done outside at area Veterans Affairs Medical facilities, starting today.

Federal authorities issued a directive making all VA Hospitals and clinics smoke free. Officials say the move is consistent with their mission to promote a healthy environment for patients.

The new mandate also applies to caregivers, staff, family members, and visitors. The policy applies to cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and any other combustion of tobacco.
