BELLEVUE, Neb. (KMTV) — A VFW Post in Bellevue near 25th and Cornhusker Road suffered a shocking loss last Friday
In the early morning hours, a man broke into the veterans service organization, vandalizing gaming devices and stealing cash including money meant for the organization's scholarship fund.
The break-in happened just after 3 a.m. when an intruder broke into the post through a window. The man was seen on surveillance cameras damaging gaming devices, at one point prying open dart boards with a crowbar and ripping a juke box off the wall.
The post's pickle gaming machine was also torn apart.
The burglar was able to gain entry to a safe by breaking the lock, and was able to take keys the building, including a lock box containing cash.
The VFW post has been closed since the break-in. The building is being re-keyed and the hope is to have the post open sometime this week.
