Vigil for Dep. Burbridge in Missouri Valley

Posted

Friends and former classmates of slain Deputy Mark Burbridge gathered at a park in Missouri Valley, IA Tuesday evening to honor the life of Burbridge.

At least a hundred people from the area sat on park benches as they listened to a pastor speak on Burbridge's impact on the community. "Heaven gained an angel yesterday."

Others in attendance from Deputy Burbridge's high school class of '91 took turns sharing stories of Burbridge and what he was like in high school - a 'charming, funny guy who would tell stories that would make one cry of laughter.'

Others shared how being in law enforcement was a dream of Burbridge's.

"He went on to pursue his dreams and you know he died doing what he love," said a former classmate.

Many lit candles in honor of Burbridge, saying he was an "all-around good guy," who proudly wore his badge at all times.
