Omaha Police arrested one man and are looking for a second person after a weekend burglary.
Police were called to Sports and Imports near 88th & Maple for a report of a suspicious person around 3:45 Sunday morning. When officers arrived they saw 35 year old Eric Peterson roll underneath a storage unit garage door and enter the unit. Officers ordered Peterson to leave the storage unit at gunpoint and took him into custody.
As officers took Peterson into custody, they heard a second suspect trying to climb a fence to escape. As officers tried to chase that person down, that suspect fired a single shot at the officers. That suspect managed to get away.
A search of the storage unit Peterson was hiding in uncovered an unregistered .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun and a boltcutter outside a unit with the lock cut off.
Peterson was booked for burglary and other charges.
