OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — A 33-year-old woman was killed on Sunday night after a 18-year-old driver allegedly ran a stop sign and crashed into her vehicle.

Around 10:30 on Sunday night, officers were dispatched to N. 42nd St. and Curtis Ave. for an injury crash involving two vehicles. The investigation revealed an eastbound 2016 Chevrolet Traverse was traveling at a high rate of speed on Curtis Avenue approaching N. 42nd St. when the driver violated the stop sign, according to police.

The Chevrolet collided with a northbound 2012 Buick Enclave that had just entered the intersection from a stop sign. Due to the collision, the driver and lone occupant of the Buick was ejected from the vehicle.

The driver of the Buick, 33-year-old Brittni McBride, was pronounced dead at the scene by Omaha Fire Department medics.

The driver and passenger of the Chevrolet were transported to Nebraska Medicine by OFD medics. Speed is being investigated as a contributing factor in the crash, police say.

The driver of the Chevrolet was identified as Jayden Johnson, 18. He suffered injuries to his hand and leg. Charges are pending. His 16-year-old passenger suffered serious injury to her face.
