Eight remain in quarantine at NE Med. after person released

OMAHA, Neb. (KMTV) — On Thursday, Nebraska Medicine said "eight of the original 15 Americans from the Diamond Princess cruise ship remain on the UNMC/ Nebraska Medical Center campus" after one person was released.

One of them is in the Biocontainment Unit while the other seven are in the National Quarantine Unit. The person released this morning was cleared to leave yesterday.

Also, the hospital says a second person has signed up for a clinical trial to treat people infected with the virus. '

UNMC says COVID-19 cases in the U.S. stand at more than 160, with 11 deaths. Globally, cases have reached nearly 97,000 and more than 3,300 deaths.
