German man's car found 20 years after he lost it in parking garage

Almost every driver has been there — when parking in a large lot or garage, it can be easy to misplace a car.

But while most drivers locate their cars after a frustrating few minutes, one German man has been searching for two decades.

That search came to an end recently, according to Augsburger Allgemeine, when German police came across an abandoned Volkswagen Passat while demolishing a parking structure in Frankfurt.

The car had been reported as stolen by a now 76-year-old man in 1997. However, it turns out the car had not been stolen, and was left to rust in the garage for 20 years.

Police say the car could not be driven, and will be sent to the scrap heap.

Reports did not indicate how much he owed the garage, or if he still had his ticket.
