A Montana woman managed to speak to her husband and police on the phone from inside of her car trunk of after being abducted, police said.

That’s where she was held captive before she died, Time reports.

Rita Maze, 47, was struck on her head Tuesday morning at a rest stop while driving from Helena, Montana, to nearby Great Falls.

By midnight, she was found dead in her trunk outside the Spokane International Airport in Washington state.
Before her death, on Tuesday night, Maze called her husband and said she had been hit on the head. She was able to speak with her husband, who reported her missing, several times throughout the night.

Maze also spoke with a Helena police officer before her death.

Using cell phone tracking, police were eventually able to track down Maze’s vehicle. Her cause of death was not released and a suspect was not immediately identified.
