Underserved kids get to Christmas shop and give

The Hope Center for Kids youth and children are celebrating the spirit of giving. More than a hundred kids are participating in the eighth annual Family Shopping event Tuesday at the Hope Center for Kids.

The Hope members, ages five through 19, will choose gifts for their families among donated items-such as new scarves, candles, books, billfolds and other gifts-delivered by generous individuals and businesses. More than 30 volunteers will help the children shop and wrap their gifts to bring home.

The event was just one of many ways the legacy of Ty and Terri Schnzel lives on. In August of 2015., the Omaha couple died in a car crash in South Dakota.

The Hope-Fremont is hosting a similar event next Monday (12/19), collecting their donations in Fremont through Dec. 14.
