Update (6:10 p.m.):

Final: No. 11 seed Rhode Island 84, No. 6 seed Creighton 72

Once again Rhode Island started with a 4-0 run to open the second half. The Bluejays put up a fight getting within six points of the Rams after a jumper by Toby Hegner with a little over 12 minutes remaining. 

Creighton kept the momentum going with a dunk by Ronnie Harrell with 8:56 on the clock. Harrell's dunk cut the Rams lead to 53-48.

Harrell continued a strong offense half with a nice layup to keep the Jays within six points of the Rams.

Just like the first half Rhode Island started to run away with the lead towards the end of the half. Jeff Dowtin knocked down free throws to give the Rams a 70-56 lead with under four minutes to play.

Creighton's Marcus Foster answered with a spin move layup to cut it to a 12 point deficit. After that the Bluejays never came within 12 points of the Rams for the remainder of the game. 

No. 11 seed Rhode Island upset No. 6 seed Creighton with a 84-72 win.

Creighton's Marcus Foster and Ronnie Harrell led the Bluejays with 15 points each. Khyri Thomas followed with 10 points on the night.

Rhode Island's Jeff Dowtin led the Rams offense with 23 points. 

Update (4:47 p.m.):

No. 6 seed Creighton are going up against No. 11 seed Rhode Island in the first round of the 2017 NCAA Men's Basketball Championship. 

Rhode Island came out hot starting with a 4-0 run. Creighton's defense couldn't stop the Rams allowing Jeff Dowtin a three-pointer to take an 11-4 lead with 13:35 remaining in the first half. 

The Bluejays started to come back in the middle of the first half cutting the rams lead to 17-11. Creighton went on a 6-0 run including a huge three-pointer by Cole Huff to tie the game 17-17 with 6:26 remaining in the first half. 

The Rams attempted to run away with the lead with a 4-0 run but Creighton put a stop to that with another crucial three-pointer by Khryi Thomas. Thomas's three put the Jays within just one point of the rams with 5:05 on the clock.

Creighton's defense started to slack as Rhode Islands offense started to light up. The rams went on another run taking a 30-21 lead with under two minutes in the first half. 

Creighton tried to fight back but Rhode Island's Kuran Iverson answered with a three-pointer to make it a 33-24 game with under a minute to play. 

Bluejay's Justin Patton slammed down a dunk to cut the Rams lead to 33-26 at halftime.
