The No. 7 seeded Creighton women's basketball squad will face off against No. 2 seeded Oregon State in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Sunday. The Beavers come into the game against Creighton ranked No. 8 in the country.
For the Jays, the program's first ever trip to the Sweet 16 is on the line in Creighton's sixth appearance in the NCAA Tournament. The Jays have advanced after first-round wins in four of their six appearances, but have yet to record back-to-back wins.
Should Creighton come away with the win, the 25 wins this season would tie head coach Jim Flanery's win total in a season. The last time Flanery led the Jays to 25 wins was in 2012-13.
Sydney Wise is the key offensively for the Beavers, averaging 15.5 ppg. Wise also tallied 4.9 rebounds-per-game and 4.6 assists-per-game this season. Sophomore forward Audrey Faber leads Creighton in scoring with 13 ppg and adds 4.2 rpg.
Tipoff for the Jays second round matchup with Oregon State is set for 8:10 p.m. on ESPN2. Be sure to follow us on Twitter at @OSIsports for live updates during the game, and check back for a wrap-up following the game.
