THE TEAMS

Nebraska and Iowa have squared off 28 times with the Huskers holding a slight 15-13 edge in the all-time series. The Hawkeyes are coming off a series loss to Northwestern to fall to 3-3 in conference play. Iowa will look to improve it's fortunes on the road where they are 3-7 away from Iowa City this season.

Nebraska has won their last 10 of 12 games including a huge series win over Maryland this past weekend. Nebraska sits in 2nd place in the Big Ten standings with a 4-1-1 record. The Huskers have been solid at Haymarket Park so far this season with a 10-3 record.

Iowa is hitting .285 as a team led by Jake Adams (.341 13 HR 42 RBI), Mason McCoy (.347 12 Doubles), and Robert Neustrom (.351 31 RBI). The Hawkeyes top arm is their Friday night starter Nick Gallagher. The junior is 4-1 with a 2.15 ERA and has 41 strikeouts to just 8 walks on the year.

Nebraska is hitting .269 as a team and have seen senior Ben Miller heat up the past two weeks. The Big Ten Player of the Week went 10-for-13 against Maryland with two doubles and three RBI. Miller is now hitting .283. Junior Jake Hohensee is this week's Big Ten Pitcher of the Week. Hohensee was dominant in his Friday start against Maryland getting his 4th win and going a career-high 8 1/3 innings while striking out a career-high 8 batters. Jake Myers improved to 5-1 as he was the winning pitcher in Sunday's series decider. Myers has now pitched at least 6.0 innings on four occasions this season.
