Nebraska baseball used a late surge to even the weekend series with Michigan State, picking up the 5-2 victory at Hawks Field Saturday afternoon. And with the win, and a Maryland loss, the Huskers have retaken the top spot in the Big Ten standings.
Trailing 2-0 entering the bottom of the sixth, NU scored three runs on four hits to take its first lead of the day. Mojo Hagge got the scoring going with an RBI single that drove in Angelo Altavilla. Ben Miller gave the Huskers the lead for good with a two-RBI double that scored Hagge and Scott Schreiber.
Nebraska improves to 31-17-1 overall this season and 13-6-1 in the Big Ten. The Huskers and the Spartans end the weekend set with the final home game at Haymarket Park this regular season, tomorrow afternoon at 12:05 p.m.
