LINCOLN, Neb. (KMTV) The race for the Nebraska starting quarterback job appears to have narrowed down to two. Quarterbacks coach Mario Verduzco said Tristan Gebbia and Adrian Martinez are splitting reps with the first team. Gebbia got reps with the first-team offense on Wednesday, while Martinez is expected to get them on Thursday.
"It's fun, great, competitive," Martinez said. "We know what it's about. We all want to see each other succeed and I feel really good about where our group's at right now. "
No matter which quarterback ends up earning the starting nod on September 1st against Akron, he will be making his college debut under the lights in Memorial Stadium.
"We're not going specifically against each other each play," said Gebbia. "But we're watching film and we're making sure that we're doing everything that we can to do the best we can for our team and try to prove we can win games for us."
