Nebraska safety Nate Gerry was selected in the 5th round (184 overall) by the Philadelphia Eagles on the final day of the 2017 NFL Draft.
Gerry was named a 1st team All-Big Ten pick by the AP in 2016 and was also a 3rd team All-American.
The South Dakota native finished his Husker career with 13 interceptions, one shy of the school record.
Gerry was the last player taken in the 5th round & the only Husker selected, ending NU's 54 year streak of having multiple players drafted.
Nebraska has now had at least one player drafted since 1963.
Gerry is the first NU defensive back drafted since 2014 but the 8th since 2010. Although he played mostly safety during his college career, the Eagles project him to play linebacker.
We know the TV said safety, but we say linebacker. ?
